This series was created during my studies at the University of Applied Sciences and Arts, Dortmund. I chose the crematorium as my subject because it made me curious. I wanted to know what a crematorium looks like from the inside, what the work processes are, what it feels like to be there and whether death would be omnipresent. I deliberately avoided taking pictures of employees. It was important to me to make a portrait of the crematorium, with all the peace, quiet reflection and loud reverberation in the wide high halls. Small traces of presence.
