The association «Kinder brauchen uns» is a non-profit organization that provides medical treatment in Germany for children from Afghanistan, and school education in the boarding school «Steinhaus Kabul». During their treatment and recovery in Germany, the children live in foster homes. Only the exemplary willingness of doctors, nurses and hospitals who offer their services free of charge and the many host families enable the association to provide the humanitarian aid that these children so urgently need. After medical treatment and recovery in Germany, the children return to their families. In order to be able to help these children sustainably, the association founded the «Steinhaus Kabul» in 2007, a house for assisted living and learning. I had the chance to document the airlift Hamburg-Kabul 2009. The pictures were exhibited at gallery Rottstr5 in Bochum.
